Pop Up! Monica Welsh – 6/22 & 23

La Sala is excited to announce the summer series of Pop Up Stores. On select weekends we’ll host NM local artists and craftspersons as they set up a pop up shop and sell their work. Shop and support local!

Monica Welsh’s paintings in gouache on paper are abstract explorations of the interplay of shape, line and color. They are about wholeness, balance and movement. These works evolved out of cut paper collage and like collage, involve working with placement and arrangement of shapes.

Monica Welsh is an artist living and working in Lamy, New Mexico. She grew up in Maryland near Washington D.C. in the 1950s and 60s and attended The Corcoran Gallery School of Art and The Maryland Art Institute College of Art. She received a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from Alfred University in New York State.

Monica exhibited her work at Concepts Gallery in Santa Fe in the early to mid 1980s and has primarily shown her work privately. She is currently represented by Sterling Fine Arts in Silver City, New Mexico.
