Straw Appliqué Workshop

 

Learn the traditional Hispanic art form from award winning artist Jean Moya

Learn the traditional technique of Straw Appliqué and bring the beauty of “Poor Mans Gold” into your home.

This one day workshop will introduce you to the simple, but elegant technique of Straw Appliqué.

Explore and experiment with corn husk, wheat and rye straw while working in abstract or an imagery design of your own subject matter.

Instructor will demo techniques and provide individual attention as the class moves through learning and applying this traditional art form. 

Instructor will supply all materials and feel free to bring photos, images or pictures for inspiration.

Max 10 Students (min of 5 students)

Instructor Jean Moya:

Born and raised in Galisteo, New Mexico Jean Anaya Moya is proud to be working in the Traditions of New Mexico Santeros. She creates art that reflect her faith, culture and heritage. Jean has studied with many Master Santeros and traveled extensively using her experience as inspiration for her work. She has received many awards throughout her career and in 2014 she was awarded her home state’s highest artistic honors, New Mexico Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts.

Jean has work in the collections of the the International Folk Art Museum, Spanish Colonial Museum, NM History Museum, Albuquerque Museum , Denver Art Museum and Taylor Museum of Colorado, as well as private collections throughout the U.S.

Workshop Participant • Statement of Understanding

Registering and paying constitutes an agreement to the following terms between La Sala de Galisteo Art Center and the participants of any/all workshops for which they register.

Upon reading these conditions of participation, Your payment signals your understanding and participation in the workshop/s for which you have registered.

  • The number of participants in any given workshop will be determined by the host of the workshop for which you have registered.
  • All registrations will be honored in the order of their receipt.
  • Refunds will be determined as follows:
    • 1. If there are registrants on the waitlist who can assume your registration, then La Sala will refund your full payment within seven business days.
    • 2. If there are no persons on the waitlist that can replace you, La Sala will refund 50% of your payment within seven business days.

 

La Sala de Galisteo Art Center will provide you a complete list of what to bring, confirmation of the workshop hours and instructions for parking after your payment is received via our online email system.

Registering and paying constitutes an agreement to the Registration Policies (previous tab) between La Sala de Galisteo Art Center and the participants of any/all workshops for which they register.
