Wayne graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1967 with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering, with a specialty in structural engineering. After two years at Harvard Law School, he returned to engineering with a consulting firm in Cambridge, Massachusetts. During his 20 years at LeMessurier Consultants, he was the structural project manager and designer on several performing arts centers, museums, and academic buildings. During a 17 year career as the owner of Ocmulgee Associates, he specialized in historic restoration and reuse projects, including house museums, old New England churches and academic structures.

His talk will focus on the team of specialists who create modern buildings: design consultants, financiers, contractors and ultimately, the owners and users. Several examples will be used to support this discussion: performing arts centers in Eugene, Oregon and Anchorage, Alaska; iconic historic structures such as McKim, Mead and White’s freshmen dining room at Harvard; and problematic buildings such as the Citicorp headquarters in NYC and the Hancock center in Boston.
